Monte Xanic planted its first Malbec vines in the Guadalupe Valley about 30 years ago, the only Malbec in the region at that time, originally used for blending.
In those early days, part of Monte Xanic’s mission was to introduce consumers to new ways of understanding Mexican wine.
Winemaker Dr. Hans Backhoff E. decided to vinify it as a single varietal, unveiling its pure expression without blending.

The result was so silky and elegant that the enology team decided to bottle it as a Limited Edition. Soon after, it began winning international awards and recognition.

Today, Malbec represents the soul of Monte Xanic’s Ojos Negros terroir — a high-altitude Malbec delivering depth, balance, and character.
It is frank and intense, with aromas of red fruits such as plum and cherry, blue fruits like blueberry, violet, and lavender, plus subtle notes of vanilla, oak, and leather.
Complex and high-quality on the nose, soft and silky on the palate, with elegant tannins and balanced acidity. Fresh, warm, and persistent.
Over time, it evolves to express black fruit, cocoa, mocha, and an elevated floral expression.
